Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM Malaysia Price Tracker
This exciting zoom lens provides ultra wide-angle coverage to the EOS 20D, 30D, 40D, 50D and Digital Rebel SLRs. Equivalent to a 16-35mm zoom, it offers excellent performance and optics designed from the ground-up for digital SLR use. Three Aspherical lens elements, plus a Super-UD element, assure image quality. Its ring-type USM means fast and silent AF along with full-time manual focus. It focuses as close as 9.5 inches.

Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM Lens Review by the-digital-picture.com
To cut the chase, I must say that I am very impressed by the lack of strong barrel and pincushion distortion in the Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM Lens. It is not perfect, but very good for this extreme wide angle focal length range. There is some barrel distortion at 10mm moving gradually to a slight pincushion at 22m. Slight enough distortion for me to be happy with the results.

The numbers tell a positive story, but more importantly, this lens is capable of producing some very fine results in terms of prints. I wouldn’t hesitate to use the Canon 10-22mm for any professional application.
Canon EF-S 10-22/3.5-4.5 USM Lens Review by bobatkins.com
Overall the Canon EF-S 10-22/3.5-4.5 USM is a very good lens. It’s well built, handles well, it’s fast focusing, silent and sharp (even wide open), and chromatic aberration is generally well controlled. It covers a wider range than any of the 3rd party competitors. It’s only downside is that it’s more expensive. Note that all the 3rd party competitors (except for the Sigma 12-24) are also designed for APS-C format coverage, so though you can physically mount them on a full frame EOS body, they will either vignette badly or show low edge quality, so you probably wouldn’t want to. It would be nice if you could mount the Canon lens on any EOS body, but you can’t. I don’t think it’s a big loss, but it is a loss.
So my final conclusion is that while you can get a cheaper lens, you can’t really get a better superwide zoom for Canon 1.6x DSLRs then the EF-S 10-22/3.5-4.5 USM and you certainly can’t get one that covers the whole 10-22mm range. If you can afford it (it’s currently around $710), go for it. I bought one myself, so I’m not just saying that!
Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM by cameralabs.com
To put these results into perspective, it’s well worth comparing the EF-S 10-22mm with the Canon EF 17-40mm, which when mounted on a full frame body delivers roughly similar coverage. In our Canon EF 17-40mm review, the combination of extreme wide angle and a full-frame sensor resulted in considerably worse distortion and light fall-off than the EF-S 10-22mm did on an APS-C sensor body like the EOS 400D / XTi. Admittedly, full-frame lenses offer some perspective benefits, and as an ‘L’ lens, the EF 17-40mm boasts superior build quality and also comes with a lens hood and pouch. But considering the EF 17-40mm’s highly respected reputation, it’s impressive to find the EF-S 10-22mm perform so well against it.
…if you’re the owner of an EF-S compatible Canon DSLR who’s ever yearned for wider angle coverage, we can highly recommend the EF-S 10-22mm. It performs very well and delivers an exciting and surprisingly flexible range. As such it’ll become a valuable ally in your lens collection.
Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM – Retest @ 15MP / Review by photozone.de
The Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM is a very sound package thanks to a combination of very decent build quality and very good if not impressive optical results. The resolution is very high at 10mm and 14mm and still pretty good at 22mm. If anything vignetting at wide-open aperture could be better. The center performance is excellent throughout the range with generally good borders. The level of distortions is surprisingly low and CAs are quite well controlled (for an ultra-wide lens). Flare is also comparatively well-controlled. There’s no such thing as a free lunch though – the EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM sells for around 600€/US$ which is a whopping 50% higher than for third-party products such as the Tamron 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5 or the popular Tokina AF 12-24mm f/4 AT-X Pro DX.
