Last Updated on March-8-2010 Add Comments

High-performance wide-angle zoom features Nano Crystal Coat and VR image stabilization for dramatically sharper still images and video capture.

Press Release:
February 9, 2010: Nikon UK today announces the AF-S NIKKOR 16-35mm f/4G ED VR, the world’s first ultra-wide angle zoom lens with VR for FX-format cameras. The new lens offers an affordable and practical proposition for general photography with FX-format cameras such as the D700.

Zurab Kiknadze, Product Manager Lenses, Accessories & Software, Nikon Europe says: “The AF-S NIKKOR 16-35mm f/4G ED VR covers all bases for wide angle shooting and addresses market feedback for a more affordable alternative to the professional AF-S Zoom-Nikkor 17-35mm f/2.8D IF-ED or more recent AF-S NIKKOR 14-24mm f/2.8G ED ultra-wide-angle lens”.

Sharper handheld images at slow shutter speeds
The AF-S NIKKOR 16-35mm f/4G ED VR is the world’s first ultra-wide angle zoom lens to feature Vibration Reduction technology, providing the ability to shoot at shutter speeds up to four stops slower. The application of VR complements the f/4 maximum aperture when shooting in low light.

Class leading image quality
The new lens’ complex optical design features Nikon’s exclusive anti-reflection Nano Crystal coat, two ED glass elements and no less than three aspherical glass elements to minimize distortion and aberration, even at maximum aperture. The VR II system and Silent Wave Motor deliver extremely quiet, discrete operation and the nine bladed rounded diaphragm renders delightful bokeh.

Built for everyday use
The AF-S NIKKOR 16-35mm f/4G ED VR balances well with more compact FX format cameras such as the D700 and is consequently built to withstand the demands of everyday shooting. The robust magnesium construction and weather sealing will make it an ideal choice for the adventurous enthusiast and professional photographer. It comes complete with durable hood HB-23, and soft pouch.

Get incredibly close to your subject with the SAL-70400G super telephoto zoom lens. Part of the acclaimed G Series, this zoom lens is ideal for sports, portraits and nature photography. This uncommonly flexible 5.7X zoom goes all the way from 70mm to 400mm and features an exceptionally bright f/4-5.6 aperture. Your pictures will benefit from two Extra Low Dispersion (ED) glass elements for high contrast and low chromatic aberration. Circular aperture enables pleasing defocus effects and you’ll even enjoy quicker response with the fast, smooth, nearly-silent focusing of Sony SSM technology. When mounted to Sony APS-C format α DSLRs, this zoom lens achieves a phenomenal 105-600mm focal length.

Super Telephoto Zoom.
This superb 70-400mm zoom lens is an excellent choice for a wide range of medium to long-distance telephoto applications. (35mm equivalent when used with APS-C format cameras: 105-600mm.)

G Series Optical Performance.
Sony’s G-Series lenses are designed for maximum descriptive power, maintaining excellent peripheral light characteristics and maximizing contrast even at the edges of the frame.

Superb Minimum Focusing Distance.
With the ability to focus as closely as 5 feet (1.5m), this telephoto lens also lets you move in for dramatic shots of people, natural subjects and close-up details.

Three Focus Hold Buttons.
The lens enables to you firmly lock in focus for creative control. Focus range limiter can be set to speed auto-focus response. Focus Hold also enables image preview with the α900 D-SLR.

Internal Focusing.
Focus is accomplished by moving an internal element group, so focus is faster.

Works with Optional Teleconverters.
Compatible with optional Sony SAL14TC (1.4x) which extends focal length to 560mm (35mm equivalent when used with APS-C format cameras: 840mm) and SAL20TC (2.0x) teleconverters which extends focal length to 800mm (35mm equivalent when used with APS-C format cameras: 1200mm). Teleconverters are compatible with manual focus only.

Superb flexibility.
The 5.7x zoom range goes all the way from 70mm, suitable for portraits and other medium-angle shots, to a super-telephoto 400mm.

ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass.
Newton showed that different colors bend at different angles when they pass through glass. In lenses, this causes the problem of chromatic aberration. Sony solves the problem with two ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass elements. You get sharp, clear images with well defined colors.

In-Camera Image Stabilization.
Works with the SteadyShot® image stabilization built into Sony α D-SLRs.

Multi-Element Design.
The SAL-70400G incorporates 18 elements in 12 groups for high optical precision from the center of the image all the way to the corners.

Auto Clutch.
For reliable operation, the manual focus ring does not rotate in auto-focus mode.

Uncommonly fast aperture.
The f/4-5.6 aperture enables shooting at higher shutter speeds to freeze sports action.

SSM (Super Sonic wave Motor).
Powerful telephoto zoom lenses tend to have larger, heavier elements that are harder to drive in Auto Focus. Sony achieves fast, smooth, near-silent automatic focusing with the

Super Sonic wave Motor.
It delivers high torque, high speed and rapid start/stop response.

0.27x maximum magnification.

Smooth Manual Focusing.
An easy-grip focus ring on the lens barrel gives you a solid “hands-on” feel in manual focusing.

Circular Aperture.
Because the aperture blades form a near circle at the wide openings used for low-light shots, spot-light sources have a pleasing circular defocused effect. The lens features nine aperture blades.

Sony SAL-70300G 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G SSM

Last Updated on February-18-2010 Add Comments

Recreate the moment with precision and clarity when you attach this G-Series 70-300mm f4.5-5.6 telephoto zoom lens to your powerful α DSLR camera.

A superb telephoto zoom lens that’s easy to carry. The Sony G-Series 70-300mm f4.5-5.6 Telephoto Zoom Lens is a brilliant performer for a wide range of medium-distance and long shots, with SSM (Super Sonic wave Motor) design for fast, silent auto-focus, ED glass to virtually eliminate chromatic aberration, focus hold button and more. Minimum focusing distance of about 4 feet (1.2m) lets you move in close to your subject—and even at full zoom extension it captures sharp, clear images thanks to the benefit of Super SteadyShot® image stabilization built into every Sony α system DSLR. (35mm equivalent: 105-450mm).

Compact Design, All-Around Versatility
This superb 70-300mm zoom lens is an excellent choice for a wide range medium to long-distance telephoto applications — and its lightweight design lets you leave it on-camera or carry it easily as an accessory lens for special purposes (35mm equivalent: 105-450mm).

In-Camera Image Stabilization
A major reason for its compact, lightweight design is the benefit of Super SteadyShot® in-camera image stabilization, built into every Sony & 945 system DSLR — and enabling accessory lenses to eliminate the extra weight and expense of in-lens stabilization mechanisms.

Smooth Manual Focusing
An easy-grip focus ring on the lens barrel gives you a solid “hands-on” feel in manual focusing.

Circular Aperture
Because the aperture blades form a near circle at the wide openings used for low-light shots, spot-light sources have a pleasing circular defocused effect.

With the ability to focus as closely as 4 feet (1.2m), this telephoto lens also lets you move in for dramatic shots of people, natural subjects and close-up details.

Focus Hold Button
For creative control and image preview, a focus hold button conveniently located on the lens barrel lets you firmly lock in focus — and a focus range limiter can be set to speed auto-focus response.

ED (Extra-low Dispersion) Glass
Because light of different wavelength (or color) bends at different angles when it passes through a lens, ED (Extra-low Dispersion) Glass is used to eliminate chromatic aberration by correcting certain wavelengths of light for sharp, clear images with well defined colors.

Superb Optical Performance
Sony’s G-Series lenses are designed for maximum descriptive power, maintaining excellent peripheral light characteristics and minimizing contrast drop-off even at the edges of the frame.

SSM (Super Sonic wave Motor)
Designed for fast, smooth, silent automatic focusing, this unique technology achieves high torque at low speed with rapid start/stop response. It operates through the ability of a piezoelectric device to reshape itself quickly when voltage is applied.

Multi-Element Design with Internal Focusing
The SAL-70300G is designed with 16 lens elements in 11 groups, with internal focusing so the balance of your camera never changes.
