Japanese Yen / Malaysian Rinngit one year chart

(Graph Source: moneycentral.msn.com)

Over 1 year time to date, the gaining Japanese Yen has made many lives in vain, particularly those that buy import goods from the land of rising sun.

About 1 year ago, Yen is being traded at 33Yen to 1 ringgit but to date, it’s being traded at 26Yen to 1 ringgit. A 5Yen difference can make very significant change in the prices of camera lens.

Just a example:

If the price of a lens is priced at RM 1000 last year when its traded at 33yen/1myr, then by now the price would increases to RM 1269 (26yen/1myr).

So, now we are really feeling the pinch now if we want to buy a lens priced at RM 4000. We will need to fork out additional RM 1076 (that’s RM 5076!!).

It’s a high time if you want to sell your lenses as second hand market are quite strong now in pricing thanks to the current new lens’ prices. And in contradict, it’s not a good time to buy new lens now particularly those imported from Japan.
