SAN DIEGO, May 16, 2012 – Sony’s α NEX-F3 digital camera delivers professional quality photos with a compact, pocket-sized body, allowing consumers to explore the creative world of high-quality, interchangeable lens photography in a refreshingly fun and entertaining way.

The new NEX-F3 camera features the same space-saving mirrorless design as other models in Sony’s E-mount family as well as an advanced, 16.1 effective megapixel Exmor™ APS HD CMOS sensor, identical in size to sensors found in traditional DSLR cameras. The large sensor takes in more light during image capture, resulting in flawless, low-noise photographs and crisply detailed Full HD videos (60i/24p). Photographers can also easily create images with beautiful defocus effects, where the subject is focused sharply against a smoothly blurred background.

“Sony continues to redefine digital photography with our E-mount series, packing a large APS-C size sensor into a small, lightweight camera body to produce professional-quality images with ease,” said Mike Kahn, director of the Alpha business at Sony.

“Featuring a diverse set of imaging technologies and offered at a great price, the new NEX-F3 model reinforces our commitment to this rapidly growing compact system camera market.”

The NEX-F3 camera adds a whole new perspective to self-portraits with a 180° Tiltable LCD screen, a first for Sony’s E-mount camera line. By simply holding the camera at arm’s length and flipping the LCD screen vertically, users can adjust the on-screen preview image and properly frame photos.

Additionally, the new model features a useful built-in flash to broaden shooting options indoors or in low light situations. Already introduced on Sony’s acclaimed NEX-7 camera, this pop-up flash handily brightens portraits and other shots without the need to carry an additional flash accessory.

The new NEX-F3 camera also includes the new Auto Portrait Framing feature for creating top-quality portraits quickly and easily. This innovative feature identifies a subject’s position in a composed image, and follows the “rule of thirds” to trim the scene appropriately around the subject’s face, creating a beautifully composed portrait. The cropped portrait is then boosted to full resolution using Sony’s unique By Pixel Super Resolution technology, which uses pattern matching to maintain superb image detail, tones and textures in the photo. Both the original and cropped image files are saved for review.

By Pixel Super Resolution Technology is also used for the “Clear Image Zoom” feature, which digitally doubles the effective magnification of any lens attached to the camera. Ideal for travel and everyday shooting, it’s a great way to boost maximum focal length without carrying extra hardware.

Other convenient essentials added to the new NEX-F3 camera include the Superior Auto mode, which intelligently recognizes a wide range of scenes and subjects and adjusts settings automatically. Battery stamina has been boosted to an industry-leading 470 shots (approx.) on a single charge – an approximate 18% improvement over its predecessor, the NEX-C3 model.

The camera is compatible with the FDA-EV1S viewfinder accessory (sold separately), which offers a high-contrast, high-resolution OLED viewfinder display and a wide viewing angle. The NEX-F3 model also features a high-quality, premium-feel grip for more comfortable handling and can be charged via either USB or a standard AC outlet.

Sony SEL18200LE E18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 OSS LE

Smaller and 12% lighter than the SEL18200 lens, the new E-mount model features Optical SteadyShot to compensate for the effects of hand-shake. It also features Direct Manual Focus to give users precise control over focus settings, resulting in crisp, beautiful images.

The new NEX-F3 compact digital camera will be available this June in silver, black and white with an 18-55mm kit zoom lens (model SEL1855) for about $600. The new SEL18200LE telezoom lens will be available this July in black for about $850.

The camera kit, new lens and a variety of compatible accessories including the LCS-EJC3 carrying case, STP-XSG1 shoulder strap and STP-WS2 wrist strap will be available at Sony retail stores (www.store.sony.com) and other authorized dealers nationwide.

As no other manufacturers currently produce a lens of this range for Four Thirds cameras, this may be your only choice for a 600mm equivalent angle of view, without spending a fortune. In that scope, this lens represents good value, despite its flaws.

If the resolution at maximum aperture could be improved, even only slightly, Olympus would be onto a winner with this lens.

This allows handheld telephoto zoom shooting even in poorly lit conditions.

The improved DG lens design corrects for various aberrations. This lens is specially coated to get the best color balance whilst cutting down on ghosting caused by reflections from the digital image sensor. The lens provides the utmost correction against lateral chromatic aberration which is a serious problem for digital SLR cameras.

With a magnification ratio 1:5.6 and the use of an apochromatic design, two elements of SLD (Special Low Dispersion), full-time manual focusing and a removable tripod collar, this lens offers a high level of performance as well as versatility.

A rear focus system insures quick, convenient manual focus and a non-rotating front barrel. This lens also features a zoom lock mechanism to help eliminate creeping of the lens. And when this lens is used with the Sigma 1.4x EX or 2x EX Apo Tele Converters this lens can be converted into a 112-560mm f/6.3-7.8 or 160-800mm f/9-11 Manual Focus lens.

Mode 1: determines the camera shake in vertical and horizontal panning and compensates blurring, this mode is effective when shooting static subjects
Mode 2: detects the vertical camera shake, and overcomes blurring. It is especially effective with moving subjects such as motor sports etc.

This state-of-the-art prime AF-S NIKKOR 28mm f/1.8G Lens from Nikon delivers on all the qualities Nikon is known for: superb image quality, up-to-the-minute features, and relentless attention to detail. This is a very fast 28mm wide-angle lens for full-frame (FX) Nikon cameras, or a fast 42mm near-normal lens when used with APS-C (DX) cameras. The f/1.8 maximum aperture will keep you shooting and capturing great images (stills or video) after the light gets too dim for others to shoot in.

Superior image quality and clarity is guaranteed by the Nano Crystal Coat (reduces ghosting and interior flare), Super Integrated Coating (enhanced light transmission and color consistency), and aspheric lens elements (minimize coma and other lens aberrations). Nikon’s Silent Wave Motor (SWM) delivers fast, accurate, and quiet autofocus, especially necessary for shooting video. This lens will focus to an impressively close 10.2″ and the 7 rounded blades of the lens diaphragm lend a beautiful quality to the out-of-focus portions of your images (often called bokeh). This 28mm lens is a versatile lens that excels with landscapes, travel, groups, interiors, photojournalism and much, much more.

For those who are serious about long-exposures and deep-sky astrophotography, but find that most cameras are ill-equipped for the task, there is a solution: the EOS 60Da DSLR Camera from Canon. This camera has been specifically redesigned for astrophotography right out of the box. So whether you want to use live preview on the pivoting display to get the composition of a constellation just right, or record the next meteor shower in stunning HD video, the EOS 60Da takes these fantastic features, among many others, and shoots for the stars.

With features like manual exposure control, the option to attach on any of the Canon EF or EF-S lenses, and various audio adjustments–including an external stereo mic connection, and both manual and auto gain control–the 60Da puts DSLR film-making at your fingertips. With the built-in 1920 x 1080 HD video resolution you’ll be able to capture MOV video clips up to 4GB in size (time depends on resolution). Other noteworthy features of the video function include in-camera editing, a number of other recording resolutions to choose from, and an HDMI output for one-cable connection to your HDTV.

No matter if you’re shooting HD video or digital stills the 60Da captures everything to convenient flash memory cards–including SD, SDHC, and SDXC memory cards. Canon also gives you the option to use wireless USB 2.0 drives, or Eye-Fi cards for computer-free wireless transfer of your images.

The EOS 60Da still has the large 18MP APS-C CMOS sensor that packs in enough pixel-power to make those enlarged mural prints you’ve only been dreaming of, a reality. But even if you don’t plan on making a wall-sized mural of the Pleiades to hang in your living room, an 18MP sensor provides other advantages. Sharpness, clear details, a lack of image-destroying noise, and true-to-life colors are all examples of how more pixels will make your images pop!

The 60Da also features Canon’s DIGIC 4 Image Processor. With DIGIC 4 you’ll enjoy the benefits of fast shooting speeds, in-camera RAW image processing, creative filters, image resizing, and other exciting in-camera features. Enhanced Face Detection Live Mode, Full HD video recording, Auto Lighting Optimizer, and Lens Peripheral Optimization are additional features also enabled by DIGIC 4.

Another high-point of the 60Da is the fully articulated (meaning: flip out and/or swivel) 3″ rear LCD screen. That’s right; this LCD opens away from the camera and articulates for viewing from multiple angles. You can, of course, choose to leave the LCD in the traditional back of the camera position, but the option to change the angle of the screen without having to move or alter composition is a welcome addition. When you’re done shooting, turn the LCD facing inward, and its back cover will even protect the display from damage.

When it comes to low light, or shooting after dark, you want the option to shoot without a flash. Especially because no flash exists to brighten up the Milky Way galaxy, no matter how high you turn it up. Canon gave the 60Da ISO settings from 100-6400, and the option to go up to a stellar 12800 using the custom function. You have more options to choose from, and more opportunity to capture stunningly clear images, even in the low light of night shooting.

What else could Canon fit into this cosmically inspired camera? A short overview includes 5.3 frames per second (fps) of continuous shooting, a 96% coverage viewfinder, a multi-control dial, a 63-zone dual-layer metering system, and a 9-point AF system.

In addition to these user-friendly features, the camera also boasts in-camera photo editing technologies. You’ll be able to process RAW files entirely in the camera to produce a separate JPEG file – without a computer or external software. Filters like “Grainy Black-and-White” and “Soft Focus Effect” also allow you to add an artistic touch to your images, sans post-production. Throw in compatibility with Mac and PC, along with a myriad of bundled software options, and the 60Da is one camera that packs a super massive punch.

Mock up design for myLensDB Mobile

We are super excited to inform you guys that we are looking into the possibility of bringing myLensDB project mobile!

It will most probably be a mobile-friendly website instead of as an App as we will need to spend far too much of effort and time developing the App for each mobile platform (IOS, Android, Windows, Blackberry etc). Furthermore, there’s no need to use any App-specific feature that it has to offer. Being a mobile site is sufficient enough, for now.

Why Mobile?

Mobile traffic accounts for more than 10% of the total traffic received. With the rise of smartphones and tablets these years, we have every reason to believe that mobile is the trend and will continue to be in the trend for a long time!

Apple iPad and iPhone made up most of the numbers for the mobile sector.

Moreover, it’s perfect for a project like this. One can easily take up the phone, surf to the mobile site, and check up and share pricing and other details easily.

I hope that this is enough to excite you!
