- 16-28mm F/2.8 Lens
- Designed For Full Frame (FX) Canon DSLRs
- Silent DC Motor With GMR Sensor
- 15 Elements in 13 Groups
- Aspherical, Super-Low Dispersion Glass
- Easily Switch From Auto to Manual Focus
For the professional, a 16-28mm f/2.8 lens is almost a necessity, and this new AT-X 16-28mm F2.8 Pro FX Lens from Tokina fills the bill very nicely. Designed specifically for Canon pro level DSLRs with a full frame (FX) sensor (such as the Canon EOS 5D Mark II), this super wide-angle zoom has 15 elements in 13 groups, using aspherical and SD super-low dispersion glass elements to reduce chromatic abberration and give maximum resolution. The silent DC motor allows the lens to focus quickly and quietly and works with a GMR magnetic AF sensor to increase AF speed even more. An exclusive One-Touch Focus Clutch mechanism allows switching quickly between auto focus and manual focus by snapping the focus ring forward for AF and back toward the camera for manual focus.

From 300mm telephoto to 800mm ultra-telephoto this new lens provides a constant fast maximum aperture and is optimized for digital SLR cameras.
The Sigma 300-800mm f/5.6 EX DG HSM is an extreme telephoto zoom lens, and ideal for nature/outdoor or sports photography. This lens provides a relatively large constant f/5.6 maximum aperture at all focal lengths.
The use of Apochromatic design and 2 ELD (Extraordinary Low Dispersion) glass elements give full correction of chromatic aberration and provide a high level of optical performance. The AF drive for the Canon EOS, Nikon and Sigma mounts are equipped with the silent, responsive and high speed Hyper Sonic Motor and provides fulltime manual focus override.
The improved DG lens design corrects for various aberrations. This lens is specially coated to get the best color balance whilst cutting down on ghosting caused by reflections from the digital image sensor. The lens provides the utmost correction against lateral chromatic aberration, which is a serious problem for digital SLR cameras.
It is also possible to use this lens with Sigma 1.4x EX and 2x EX Apo Tele Converters to convert this lens into an ultra tele-zoom lens, effectively converting it into a 420-1120mm f/8 or 600-1600mm f/11 lens. The lens materials used in this new lens are lead and arsenic free ecological glass.
- Hyper Sonic Motor provides smooth, silent AF with fulltime manual focus override
- The rotating tripod mount can be conveniently detached if required
- Apochromatic design and 2 ELD (Extraordinary Low Dispersion) glass elements give full correction of chromatic aberration and provide a high level of optical performance
Finally, there’s something to fill in the missing gap in between of the newly released Nikon D3100 and the Nikon D7000 replacing the aging Nikon D5000. The new Nikon D5100 brings a series of update over its predecessor such as higher megapixels count (16.3MP vs 12.3MP), Full HD recording with movie art filter (first seen in Olympus PEN-series), higher ISO (6400 vs 3200) with boost up to ISO 25600 most notably.
Also, the features that we noted and we think that it’s pretty cool is the the Nikon D5100 sports continuous focusing in movie recording like the one on the Nikon D7000 (Click to see Nikon D7000 in action) and it has in-camera HDR mode as well. Well, there’s lots more to know about this little featured packed gadget from Nikon but for now, here’s the promotional video from Nikon.
And the preview from DPReview as well!
Standard lens for Pentax autofocus cameras with a bright f/1.4 aperture. The SMCP-FA 50mm f/1.4 is an excellent choice for lowlight handheld photography, and effectively becomes a brilliant short telephoto portrait lens when used upon the *ist series of digital SLR cameras. The Pentax Super Multi Coating process provides the highest possible transmission of light.
If you use the SMCP-FA 50mm f/1.4 with an *ist series digital SLR camera and desire the light-shielding contrast benefits from a lens hood, Pentax’s RH-RB49 hood (catalog number 34774, B&H item code “PELH70210AF”) provides the most effective shielding. While this hood would cause vignetting with a full-frame 24 x 36mm-type camera(such as a Pentax 35mm SLR), the smaller 23.5 x 15.7mm sensor size of the *ist series makes the RH-RB49 an ideal shielding device. In such applications, a 49mm polarizer can be used at the front of the hood with no darkening of the image corners.
