The wide zoom range of the EF 28-200mm f/3.5-5.6 makes this a perfect lens for many situations. Its sixteen-element design includes two aspherical elements, and it focuses as close as 17.7″ throughout the entire zoom range. Inner focusing means the front section doesn’t rotate, a real benefit to photographers who use filters.

  • Inner focusing with non-rotating front.
  • Close focusing to 17.7 inches, at all focal lengths.
  • Fast and quiet AF is provided by Canon’s exclusive micro USM motor.

Canon EF 28-200mm f/3.5-5.6 USM Lens Review by the-digital-picture.com

The Canon EF 28-200mm f/3.5-5.6 USM Lens holds a very wide focal length range in a compact and inexpensive package. But, image quality delivered by this lens is … well … poor.

Overall, the Canon EF 28-200mm f/3.5-5.6 USM Lens’ build quality is mediocre. It sports a metal lens mount like the best, but the rest of the lens is just average for a consumer grade lens.

Overall, the Canon EF 28-200mm f/3.5-5.6 USM Lens optically disappoints.

The Sigma 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 DC OS (Optical Stabilizer) Lens offers an “all-in-one” super-zoom lens solution, from wide-angle to long telephoto. It provides the equivalent focal range of approx. 29-320mm when used with a Canon digital SLR camera(*). This lens has now been updated with the OS (Optical Stabilizer) system, which minimizes image blur caused by camera shake, and offers the equivalent of shooting at a shutter speed 2-3 stops faster. This allows handheld telephoto zoom shooting even in poorly lit conditions.

The 18-200mm’s optical design incorporates aspherical lenses and SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass, which provides the utmost correction for all types of aberrations. It also enables this extended super-zoom lens to be housed in a compact and lightweight construction.

DC lenses are exclusively designed for digital SLR cameras. The image circle (rear of lens) is sized to match the smaller dimensions used for the image sensor on digital cameras. As a result these lenses are also more compact and lightweight, and are better matched to digital SLR cameras.

The OS system uses two sensors inside the lens to detect vertical and horizontal movement of the camera. It works by moving an optical image stabilizing lens group, to effectively compensate for camera shake. It automatically detects movement of the camera and compensates for camera shake when shooting moving subject such as motor sports.

  • Two Special Low Dispersion (SLD) elements and three hybrid aspherical lenses provide high quality images throughout the entire zoom range.
  • Super Multi Layer (SML) coating reduces ghost and flare.
  • The lens design incorporates an inner focusing system, which prevents the front of the lens from rotating, thereby making it particularly suitable for use with circular polarizing filters and petal shaped lens hoods.
  • A magnification scale is displayed on the lens barrel for each focal length, ensuring ease of use.

This exciting zoom lens provides ultra wide-angle coverage to the EOS 20D, 30D, 40D, 50D and Digital Rebel SLRs. Equivalent to a 16-35mm zoom, it offers excellent performance and optics designed from the ground-up for digital SLR use. Three Aspherical lens elements, plus a Super-UD element, assure image quality. Its ring-type USM means fast and silent AF along with full-time manual focus. It focuses as close as 9.5 inches.

Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM Lens Review by the-digital-picture.com

To cut the chase, I must say that I am very impressed by the lack of strong barrel and pincushion distortion in the Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM Lens. It is not perfect, but very good for this extreme wide angle focal length range. There is some barrel distortion at 10mm moving gradually to a slight pincushion at 22m. Slight enough distortion for me to be happy with the results.

  • For use with smaller chip APS-c or 4/3 digital cameras only
  • Compact size weighing 16 ounces and only 3.2 inches in length
  • Two Aspherical glass elements offer correction for distortion
  • SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass & ELD (Extra Low Dispersion) glass element provides optimum color correction & sharpness
  • Super Multi-Layer lens coating reduces flare & ghosting & assures high image quality throughout the entire zoom range
  • Inner focusing system eliminates front lens rotation making the lens suitable for use of polarizing filters
  • A minimum focusing distance of 8” & a maximum magnification factor of 1 to 3 make this excellent for up-close subjects
  • A lens hood, front & rear lens caps and carrying case are included with the lens.

The popular Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 EX DC Macro Lens has now been improved with closer focusing capabilities – as close as 7.9″ (20 cm) – and has a maximum magnification rating of 1:3, ideal for close-up photography. This lens is exclusively designed to suit the characteristics of digital SLR cameras. The characteristics of digital SLR cameras were taken into consideration when designing the lens power layout. The advanced lens design corrects various aberrations. This lens provides the utmost correction against lateral chromatic aberration which is a serious problem for digital SLR cameras.
